The Journal of Oral and Molecular Translational Medicine (JOMTM) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, editorial integrity, and scientific transparency in all aspects of scholarly publishing. JOMTM is dedicated to ensuring that all published research is conducted, reviewed, and disseminated in a manner that safeguards academic honesty, protects the integrity of the scientific record, and promotes trust within the global research community. All authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members are required to adhere strictly to these ethical principles as a condition of participation in the publication process.
Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship must be based on substantial intellectual contribution to the work, including one or more of the following: conception and design of the study, acquisition of data, analysis and interpretation of findings, drafting of the manuscript, or critical revision for important intellectual content. All listed authors must meet all four ICMJE authorship criteria, approve the final submitted version, and accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.
Individuals who contribute to a manuscript but do not meet authorship criteria must be acknowledged appropriately and not listed as authors. Ghost authorship, honorary authorship, and guest authorship are strictly prohibited.
Originality and Duplicate Publication
All manuscripts submitted to JOMTM must represent original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere. Duplicate submission, redundant publication, salami slicing, and undisclosed republication of substantially similar material are considered serious breaches of publication ethics and are not permitted.
Authors must disclose any overlap with prior publications at the time of submission.
Plagiarism and Text Integrity
JOMTM maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism in all forms, including direct copying, mosaic plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and uncredited paraphrasing. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software before peer review.
If plagiarism is identified before publication, the manuscript will be rejected. If detected after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue corrections, retractions, or formal notices in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Data Integrity and Research Accuracy
Authors are responsible for the accuracy, authenticity, and integrity of all data presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, or selective reporting of results constitutes scientific misconduct.
Where requested, authors must provide original raw data, ethics approvals, or supporting documentation for editorial review.
Ethical Approval and Human Subject Protection
Research involving human participants, patient data, biological specimens, or clinical interventions must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and must include evidence of prior approval by a recognized institutional ethics committee or review board.
Manuscripts must clearly state:
- Name of approving ethics committee;
- Approval reference number where applicable;
- Confirmation of informed consent from participants.
For case reports involving identifiable patient information, written patient consent is mandatory.
Clinical Trial Registration
All clinical trials must be prospectively registered in a recognized public registry such as ClinicalTrials.gov, ANZCTR, ISRCTN, or equivalent. Registration numbers must be included in the manuscript.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure
All authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence or be perceived to influence their work. This includes funding sources, consultancies, grants, honoraria, stock ownership, or advisory roles.
A conflict of interest statement is mandatory in every submission.
Funding Transparency
All sources of funding must be fully disclosed, including the role of the sponsor in study design, data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation, and publication decisions.
Peer Review Ethics
JOMTM operates a rigorous double-anonymous peer review process. Reviewers are expected to:
- Maintain confidentiality of all manuscript content;
- Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations;
- Declare conflicts of interest before accepting review assignments;
- Refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage.
Editors ensure impartial reviewer selection and independent editorial decision-making.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Commercial interests, sponsorship influence, institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or personal relationships shall never affect editorial judgment.
Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
JOMTM is committed to preserving the integrity of the published record. Where errors, misconduct, or ethical breaches are identified, the journal may issue:
- Corrections (Errata),
- Expressions of Concern,
- Retractions.
Retractions will be published transparently and linked to the original article in accordance with COPE retraction standards.
Misconduct Allegations
All allegations of misconduct—including plagiarism, fabricated data, unethical experimentation, authorship disputes, or reviewer misconduct—will be investigated fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with COPE procedures. Institutions may be contacted where necessary.
Author Responsibility Statement
By submitting a manuscript to JOMTM, authors confirm that:
